AAM releases Canadian magazine stats for first half of 2014
The Alliance for Audited Media (AAM) has released its report on Canadian magazine circulation trends for the first half of 2014.

The North American cross-media verification and information service revealed that of the 56 titles that reported comparable data, overall paid and verified circulation was down 4.8 % compared to the first half of 2013.
L'actualité's circulation dropped by 13 % while The Hockey News' increased by 13 %.
The report gives a forecast of both the Canadian and US publication market, and revealed that Canadians seem to be signing up for less magazine subscriptions. Single copy sales increased by 3 % and paid subscriptions were down by 10.1 % for the first half of the year. The AAM report states that the six-month averages for single copy sales may have been impacted by the closure of wholesaler and distributor Benjamin News in March.

Almost 86 %, which comes out to 48 titles, released digital editions during the reported period, totaling 255,764 of total paid, verified and analyzed nonpaid circulation. Digital editions have almost tripled—there were only 72,587 reported copies in June 2013.

AAM’s Top 25 Canadian consumer magazines by total paid and verified circulation chart showed that while some magazines saw a decrease in circulation, (L'actualité -13 %, Reader’s Digest Canadian Edition –28 %, and Loulou -11.9 %) others grew (Monysense 12.0 %, HELLO! 8.1 %, The Hockey News, 13.0 %, Sportsnet Magazine 27.5 % and Best Health 5.5 %).
