Magazine sales and circ down: Alliance for Audited Media
AAM consumer magazine data for the first half of 2013 shows an overall 7% slide in paid and verified circulation. Single-copy sales were down 5.4%, and paid subscriptions declined 7.4%.

Out of the 60 titles that reported comparable data, Chatelaine sits on top of the paid and verified circulation rankings with a -1.9% adjustment from the same period last year. The Canadian English edition of Reader's Digest, formerly at No. 1, fell 17.1% to second place. Maclean's (No. 3) declined 2.6%, and Canadian House & Home (No. 4) fell 6.2%. Coupe de pouce saw an increase of 0.9%, climbing into the top five from No. 7.

Chatelaine also took first place in single-copy sales, with a jump of 10.4%. Canadian House & Home (No. 2) held steady with a change of -1.9%. 7 Jours (No. 3) fell 10.9%, and Hello! tumbled 19.6% while holding its place at No. 4. LouLou inched up 0.8% and reached top five status, up from No. 8 last year.

Notably, while Reader's Digest continued to slip in paid and verified circulation, it enjoyed a 52.5% increased in single-copy sales, landing just outside the top five. Canadian Living, which previously led the pack in single-copy sales and was No. 3 the same corresponding period last year in circulation, is absent from the rankings as it did not file its publisher's statement in time.
